Cookie Policy
Last Updated: October 17, 2026
This Cookie Policy explains how Alpha Bytes (“we”, “us”) uses cookies and similar technologies on alphaxbytes.com, what each one does, and how you can control them. Please read it together with our Privacy Policy.
1. What cookies and similar technologies are
Cookies are small text files that a website stores in your browser. Similar technologies include localStorage and sessionStorage, which keep small pieces of data in your browser, and scripts from other companies that may set their own cookies. Some are strictly necessary for the site to work. Others, such as analytics and advertising cookies, are optional.
Please note: Google Analytics and the Google AdSense script currently load on every page and may set the analytics and advertising cookies listed below, whatever you choose in our banner. Your choice is saved and will be applied to them as we roll out consent-based loading.
2. Your choices
- Strictly necessary: always on. They keep the site working and remember your choices, and they do not track you across other websites.
- Analytics: helps us understand how the site is used (Google Analytics). The switch starts off in our preferences. Google Analytics currently loads for all visitors; your choice is saved and will be applied once it is loaded based on consent.
- Advertising & marketing: lets Google AdSense use cookies to show and measure ads. The switch starts off. We do not show ads at the moment, but the AdSense script already loads and may set a short-lived test cookie; your choice is saved and will be applied once it is loaded based on consent.
When you first visit, a banner lets you Accept all, Reject all or Customize. Rejecting is as easy as accepting. If your browser sends a Global Privacy Control (GPC) signal, we record advertising as off unless you switch it on yourself. Visitors in the EEA, the UK and Switzerland may see Google's own consent message instead of ours.
3. Cookies and storage we use
| Name | Provider | Purpose | Category | Duration |
|---|---|---|---|---|
ab_consent | Alpha Bytes (first-party cookie) | Remembers your cookie choices so we do not ask again on every page. | Strictly necessary | 12 months |
admin_token | Alpha Bytes (first-party cookie) | Keeps authorised team members signed in to the website’s admin area. Never set for visitors. | Strictly necessary | 7 days |
ab_lead_popup | Alpha Bytes (browser localStorage) | Remembers when the enquiry popup last opened and how long you have browsed since, so it reappears at most once every 10 minutes of browsing, and not at all after you send an enquiry. Stores dates and a time counter only. | Strictly necessary | Until you clear it (the popup stays away for 180 days after an enquiry) |
ab_lead_session | Alpha Bytes (browser sessionStorage) | Counts your time on the site during this visit and whether the popup was shown. It also keeps the referring page and any campaign tags (for example utm_source) from the link you followed; that part is not essential and is sent to us only if you submit an enquiry. | Functional | Until you close the tab |
_ga, _ga_QEFHNYKRB4 | Google Analytics (Google) | Distinguish visitors and sessions so we can see which pages are used and improve the site. | Analytics | Up to 2 years |
test_cookie | Google AdSense (doubleclick.net) | Set by the Google AdSense script to check whether your browser accepts cookies. | Advertising | 15 minutes |
__gads, __gpi, __eoi | Google AdSense (Google) | Serve, cap and measure ads. Only set when ads are shown. We do not show ads at the moment. | Advertising | Up to 13 months (__eoi: 6 months) |
FCCDCF, FCNEC | Google consent message (Google) | Store the choice you make in Google’s own consent message, which Google shows to visitors in the EEA, the UK and Switzerland. | Strictly necessary | Up to 13 months |
Speed Insights | Vercel | Measures page speed (Core Web Vitals) so we can keep the site fast. Uses no cookies. | Performance | Nothing stored in your browser |
Google Fonts | Delivers the fonts used on the site. Uses no cookies, but Google receives your IP address when the font files load. | Functional | Nothing stored in your browser |
Google Analytics and the Google AdSense script are loaded by our pages. Google acts as a separate provider for these services; see how Google uses cookies.
4. How to change your choice
You can change or withdraw your consent at any time. Open your cookie settings with the button below or the “Cookie settings” link at the bottom of every page. A new choice applies from then on; cookies that are already stored stay until they expire or you delete them in your browser.
5. Control cookies in your browser
Most browsers let you see, block and delete cookies. Blocking strictly necessary cookies may stop parts of the site from working as expected.
You can also install the Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on and manage ad personalisation in Google My Ad Center.
6. Changes to this policy
When we change this policy we update the “Last Updated” date above. If a change affects the choices you made, we will ask you again.
